Waiting list privacy notice

Draft: this notice is awaiting review by our solicitor and may change before Nudgj opens. Version 0.1, last updated {OWNER: date}.

This notice explains what happens to the details you give us when you join the Nudgj waiting list. It covers the waiting list only. Nudgj's full privacy policy, for the service itself, will be published before Nudgj opens.

Who we are

Nudgj is run by {OWNER: full legal name}, a sole trader, of {OWNER: postal address}. We are the data controller for the details you give us on the waiting list, which means we decide how they're used and we're responsible for looking after them.

When Nudgj becomes a limited company, the company will take over as controller. We'll update this notice and email you when that happens.

Our registration number with the Information Commissioner's Office is {OWNER: ICO registration number}.

You can contact us about anything in this notice at hello@nudgj.com, or by post at the address above.

What we collect

  • Your email address.
  • Your first name, if you choose to give it.
  • A record of your consent: the exact wording you agreed to and its version, the date and time you agreed, the page you signed up on, and the date and time you confirmed by email.
  • Your IP address, used only to stop abuse of the sign-up form (for example, someone submitting it hundreds of times). We don't store it with your details. We keep a scrambled form of it for no more than 24 hours, then delete it. Like any web host, Vercel (see below) also sees your IP address in its standard request logs, which it keeps for {OWNER: Vercel's log retention period for this plan}.

We don't use cookies, analytics or tracking of any kind on this website, and we don't collect anything else about you.

The waiting list is for adults. Please don't join if you're under 18.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To email you when Nudgj opens, and to send you the occasional update about Nudgj before then. Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). These emails also rely on your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (regulation 22).
  • To confirm your email address, so we know it was really you who signed up. This is part of the consent you give.
  • To keep a record of your consent, so we can show we had it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in being able to prove we're allowed to email you (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • To stop abuse of the sign-up form, using your IP address briefly. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the form working and secure (Article 6(1)(f)).

What we don't do

  • We never sell your details.
  • We never share them with anyone for their marketing.
  • We don't use cookies, trackers or analytics.
  • We don't build a profile of you or make automated decisions about you.

Where your details are stored, and who helps us

Your waiting list details are stored in {OWNER: the UK or the European Economic Area, as the chosen provider confirms}.

These services help us, each under a contract that only lets them use your details to provide their service to us:

  • Vercel, which hosts this website and runs the sign-up form. When you submit the form, your details pass through Vercel's London region on their way to our list. Vercel Inc. is based in the United States; {OWNER: the safeguard Vercel relies on for any transfer, for example the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework}.
  • {OWNER: provider name}, which stores the waiting list and sends our emails, in {OWNER: location}. {OWNER: transfer safeguard, if any processing happens outside the UK}.

How long we keep your details

We keep your details until Nudgj opens and we've sent you the launch email, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.

  • If you don't confirm your email address, we delete your details 14 days after you sign up.
  • If Nudgj hasn't opened by {OWNER: date, proposed as 12 months after the waiting list opens}, we'll email you once and then delete your details unless you ask us to keep you on the list.
  • If you unsubscribe, we delete your details and keep only a minimal record that your address unsubscribed, so we never email it again by mistake.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the details we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct them;
  • ask us to delete them;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by emailing us (this doesn't affect anything we did with your consent before you withdrew it);
  • ask us to restrict how we use your details, or object to how we use them;
  • ask for your details in a format you can take elsewhere.

To use any of these rights, email hello@nudgj.com. We'll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, please tell us first at hello@nudgj.com and we'll do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by phone on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we'll update the version number and date at the top. If a change affects how we use your details, we'll email you before it takes effect. Earlier versions are kept, so we can always show the wording you agreed to.
