For busy households
Sometimes we all need a Nudgj.
Nudgj is a calm helper that lives in your family's Telegram chat. It keeps the shopping list, the chores and the week ahead in one place, and gives everyone a gentle nudge at the right time.
Not open yet. Joining the list just means we'll email you when it is (and send the odd update before then).
- Lives in Telegram
- Data stored in the UK
- Seven-day free trial when we open
- Nudgj
Evening, all. Bins go out tonight: it's the blue recycling bin this week.
- Sam
On it.
- Priya
Can we add milk, bin bags and something for Maya's packed lunch?
- Nudgj
Added to the shopping list:
- Milk
- Bin bags
- Packed lunch bits
- Sam
What's on this weekend?
- Nudgj
Saturday: Maya's swimming at 10:00. Sunday: lunch at Nana's at 13:00. That's everything on the family calendar.
Nudgj stays quiet from 22:00 to 06:30
Sound familiar?
Family life runs on a hundred little things.
Who's taking Maya to swimming? Did anyone buy bin bags? Is the dentist this Thursday or next? It all lives in someone's head, on the fridge door, or forty messages up in the family chat.
- PE kit Weds
- Who's got the dentist?
- Bins tonight
- Out of milk (again)
- MOT due in March
- Card for Nana, post by Thurs
Nudgj gathers them up, right where you already talk.
So, what is it?
A household helper in your family chat.
No new app to learn. You add Nudgj to a Telegram group with the other adults in your home, and talk to it the way you'd talk to each other.
One shopping list for everyone.
Anyone can add to it by saying so in the chat. "Add oat milk" is enough. Ask for the list when you're in the shop.
Chores that come round again.
Bins on Thursdays, plants on Sundays, the boiler service once a year. Set it up once and Nudgj keeps track.
Reminders at the right moment.
A gentle message in the group, or privately just to you. Nudgj sends nothing of its own from 22:00 to 06:30.
The Sunday agenda.
A short, calm plan for the week ahead: what's on, what's due and what's on the list. Fewer surprises on Monday morning.
Your family calendar, read and checked.
Nudgj reads your Google Calendar, so it can answer "what's on Saturday?". Before it adds or changes anything there, it asks.
Private when you need it.
Each adult can also chat with Nudgj one to one. Planning a surprise? Nothing from a private chat ever appears in the group.
Here's the clever bit
Outside the house, it always asks first.
Shopping and reminders just happen. Anything that changes something outside the house, like your family calendar, needs a yes from one of the adults. Nudgj shows exactly what it will do, then waits.
In the family group Sam
Can you put parents' evening in the calendar? Tuesday, 17:30 to 18:30.
Nudgj
Happy to. I've sent a quick check to each of your private chats first.
Priya's private chat Nudgj
Add this to the family calendar?
Parents' eveningTuesday, 17:30 to 18:30
Yes, add itNo, leave it
Priya chose: Yes, add it
Nudgj
Done. It's in the family calendar.
Sam's private chat Nudgj
Add this to the family calendar?
Parents' eveningTuesday, 17:30 to 18:30
Sorted: Priya said yes.
Nudgj
Priya said yes, so parents' evening (Tuesday, 17:30 to 18:30) is now in the family calendar.
Ask in your own words.
Type it as you'd say it, in the group or in your private chat.
One yes is enough.
The check goes to every adult's private chat. The first yes settles it, so nobody has to wait for everyone.
Everyone stays in the loop.
The others get a short private note saying what was agreed and who said yes. Plain facts, no tallies.
And reminders just for you.
Anything you set up in your private chat stays there. Nothing from it ever appears in the group.
Priya
Remind me to order Sam's birthday present by Friday.
Nudgj
Of course. I'll remind you here on Thursday at 08:00. This stays between us.
- Thursday
Nudgj
Morning, Priya. A reminder to order Sam's birthday present today.
How it talks
A nudge, not a nag.
Nudgj is calm and neutral. It never keeps score, never compares people and never makes anyone feel bad about the washing up.
Nudgj says
Bins go out tonight.
Nudgj will never say: Bins again? That's the third week running.
Nudgj says
PE kit for Maya tomorrow.
Nudgj will never say: Sam has done 2 jobs this week. Priya has done 9.
Nudgj says
Here's the week ahead.
Nudgj will never say: You're falling behind.
Getting started, once we open
Set up before your tea goes cold.
When Nudgj opens, joining will take under five minutes, and you only do it once.
Sign up on the website.
Tell us your household's name, your time zone and the first names of the adults. Your seven-day free trial starts straight away, with no card needed.
Connect your calendar.
Each adult connects their Google Calendar on Google's own page. We never see your password, and we'll never ask for it. Google's page may show the name Nylas: that's the service we use to connect calendars.
Add Nudgj to your family group.
Add @NudgjBot to your family's Telegram group and send it the group code from the website. Nudgj says hello shortly after.
Link your private chats.
Each adult opens a private chat with @NudgjBot and sends their own code. That's it: you're set.
Nudgj works with Google Calendar at launch. Microsoft Outlook is planned for later.
Pinned to the fridge
What Nudgj will never do.
House rules
Keep score. No tallies, no league tables, no counting who did what.
Compare people.Everyone's simply part of the household.
Guilt-trip anyone. No "overdue again", no streaks to lose, no telling-offs.
Send messages of its own at night.Quiet hours run from 22:00 to 06:30 in your home's time zone. If you message Nudgj, it still replies.
Share your private chat in the group. What you say to Nudgj one to one stays there.
Change anything outside the house without a yes.It shows you exactly what it will do, and waits.
Ask for your passwords. You connect your calendar on Google's own page.
Show your family's data to another family. Not ever.
Privacy and trust
Private by design, and honest about it.
A family assistant knows a lot about your week. Here's exactly how we'll look after it.
Your family, kept separate.
No family's data is ever visible to any other family.
Data stored in the UK.
Your household's lists, chores, reminders and settings are stored in London. (See the honest bit below for what happens while a message is on its way.)
Only what's needed.
We keep only what your household needs for Nudgj to work. You can ask us to export it or delete it at any time.
Message text kept out of logs.
Nudgj doesn't write the text of your messages into its logs. Your lists, chores and reminders are stored, because that's how Nudgj remembers them.
No passwords, ever.
You connect your calendar on Google's own page. We never see or ask for a password.
When you stop, it goes.
If you cancel, or the trial ends without a subscription, your household is paused and your data is kept for 30 days, with reminders. Then it's deleted, unless you come back.
We don't read your chats.
The Nudgj team can't read your household's chats. The only exception is a support session that one of you opens on purpose: it's time-limited, read-only and logged, and any adult can end it early.
The honest bit
Telegram bot chats aren't end-to-end encrypted. That means your messages to Nudgj pass through Telegram and through Nudgj's servers on their way. We don't log the text of your messages, and nobody on our team reads them, unless one of you opens a support session.
To understand what you've asked, Nudgj sends your messages to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic.
"Stored in the UK" means where Nudgj keeps your household's data, like your lists, chores and reminders. While a message is on its way, it passes through Telegram and Anthropic, whose systems are outside the UK. Your chats themselves live in Telegram, like any Telegram chat.
The services involved
- Telegram:
- carries your chats
- Anthropic:
- understands your messages, using its AI model Claude
- Nylas:
- connects your calendar
- Google:
- your Google Calendar
- Fly.io:
- hosts Nudgj, in London
- Stripe:
- handles payments
Fair question
Is Nudgj right for your household?
Nudgj is a good fit if
- You're running a busy home and want the week held in one place, especially if two of you share the load.
- You're happy to use Telegram for household things (you can keep WhatsApp for everything else).
- Your family calendar is in Google Calendar.
- You'd like fewer "did anyone remember?" messages, not more apps.
It might not suit you yet if
- Your calendar is in Apple iCloud, which isn't supported at launch.
- You rely on Microsoft Outlook. It's planned, but not ready at launch.
- You'd like the children to have their own accounts. Nudgj is for adults at launch, though you can name children in chores, lists and reminders.
- Someone in your home sleeps in the day, for example after night shifts. At launch, quiet hours are 22:00 to 06:30. (You can always mute any chat in Telegram.)
- You'd rather not use Telegram at all.
What we mean by a household
A household is one home and the adults who share the running of it. At launch, Nudgj doesn't link two homes together. If your family is spread across two homes, we'd love to hear how you'd want it to work: email hello@nudgj.com.

The basics
What exactly is Nudgj?
Nudgj is a calm household assistant that lives in Telegram. Your household has one shared group chat with Nudgj, and each adult can also have a private chat with it. It keeps your shared tasks, recurring chores, shopping list and Sunday agenda (a short plan for the week ahead), sends reminders, and reads your family calendar. Before it changes anything outside the house, like adding a calendar event, it asks.
How do you say it?
Just like "nudge". The j is our little nudge.
Why Telegram? We already use WhatsApp.
Nudgj lives in Telegram, which is free on phones and computers. You don't have to give up WhatsApp: keep chatting there as you always have, and start a small Telegram group just for running the house, with Nudgj in it. Every adult who wants to use Nudgj will need a Telegram account.
Is it another app to download?
Only Telegram, if you don't have it already. There's no separate Nudgj app. You sign up on our website, then everything happens in your Telegram chats.
How do we find Nudgj in Telegram?
There's one Nudgj bot for everyone: @NudgjBot. The codes from the website link your chats to your household and no one else's.
How long will it take to set up?
Under five minutes. You sign up on the website, connect your calendar on Google's own page, add @NudgjBot to your family's Telegram group with the code from the website, and each adult links their private chat with their own code.
Which calendars does it work with?
Google Calendar at launch. Microsoft Outlook is planned for later. Apple iCloud calendars aren't supported at launch, and Nudgj doesn't connect to email at launch. When you connect Google Calendar, Google's page may show the name Nylas: that's the service we use to connect calendars.
Day to day
Will it nag us?
No. Nudgj sends the reminders your household sets up, in a calm, neutral tone. It never keeps score, never compares people and never counts who did what. There's no guilt and no telling-off, just a gentle nudge at the right time.
Will it message us late at night or first thing?
No. Quiet hours run from 22:00 to 06:30 in your household's time zone, and Nudgj sends no messages of its own during them. If you message it yourself during quiet hours, it will still reply. If someone in your home works nights, you can mute the chat in Telegram whenever you need to, like any other chat.
Can Nudgj change our calendar by itself?
No. Nudgj reads your calendar so it can tell you what's on. Before it adds or changes anything, it sends a check to every adult's private chat showing exactly what it will do, and waits for a yes. The first yes settles it, and the other adults are told privately what was agreed and who said yes.
Do both of us have to agree to everything?
No. When Nudgj asks before changing something outside the house, any one adult can say yes. The others are told privately what was agreed. Everyday things like the shopping list and reminders don't need a yes at all.
What about the children?
Nudgj is for adults at launch, so only adults link their chats. You can still name children in chores, lists and reminders ("PE kit for Maya on Wednesday"). Supervised accounts for teenagers may come later, after their own privacy review.
Our children live between two homes. Will Nudgj work for us?
At launch, a Nudgj household is one home and the adults who share the running of it, and Nudgj doesn't link two homes together. We'd love to hear how you'd want it to work for your family: email hello@nudgj.com.
Privacy and trust
Who can see our messages?
Everyone in your family's Telegram group sees the group chat. Your private chat with Nudgj is yours: nothing from it ever appears in the group. No other family can ever see your household's data. Like any Telegram bot, Nudgj's chats pass through Telegram, and Claude, Anthropic's AI model, processes your messages so Nudgj can understand them (more on both below).
Are our chats end-to-end encrypted?
No, and we'd rather tell you plainly. Telegram bot chats aren't end-to-end encrypted, so your messages to Nudgj pass through Telegram and through Nudgj's servers on their way. We don't log the text of your messages, and nobody on our team reads them unless one of you opens a support session.
Does Nudgj use AI?
Yes. To understand what you've asked, Nudgj sends your messages to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. That's how you can write "add oat milk and remind Sam about the boiler on Friday" in your own words and Nudgj knows what to do. Before anything changes outside the house, it still asks one of you first.
Where is our data kept?
The data Nudgj keeps for your household (your lists, chores, reminders and settings) is stored in the UK, in London. While a message is on its way, it passes through Telegram, which carries your chats, and Anthropic, which understands them. Both have systems outside the UK, and your chats themselves live in Telegram, like any Telegram chat. The other services Nudgj relies on are Nylas (connecting your calendar), Google (your calendar), Fly.io (hosting, in London) and Stripe (payments).
Do you need our Google password?
Never. Each adult connects their calendar on Google's own page. We never see your password, and we'll never ask for it.
Can the Nudgj team read our chats?
No. The only exception is a support session that an adult in your household opens on purpose from their private chat. Before you agree, Nudgj shows exactly what we'll be able to see and for how long. During the session we can read but not act, the adults are told privately when it starts and ends, any adult can end it early, and every session is logged.
Money, leaving and help
How much will it cost?
The price is to be confirmed. Here's what's decided: a seven-day free trial with no card needed, one price for the whole household, monthly or annual payment (annual costs less), and a generous fair-use allowance with no meters. We'll email the waiting list when the price is set.
Do we need a card for the free trial?
No. You'll only be asked for a card if you choose to subscribe after the trial.
What does fair use mean?
Everyday family life should fit comfortably within it. If a household ever reaches the day's allowance, Nudgj says so calmly and picks up again the next day. Reminders you've already set still go out. There are no meters or counters in your chat.
Will the bill appear in the family chat?
No. Billing messages go only to the person who pays, in their private chat or by email, never to the group.
What happens if we cancel, or the trial ends?
Your household is paused and your data is kept for 30 days, and we'll send you reminders during that time. After 30 days it's deleted, unless you choose to subscribe again. You can also ask us to export or delete your data at any time.
How do we get help?
By email, at hello@nudgj.com. You can also send /help to Nudgj in Telegram, and it will reply with our support address and a link to the help pages.
The waiting list
When does Nudgj launch?

What does joining the waiting list commit me to?
Nothing at all. We'll email you when Nudgj opens, and now and then before that. You can unsubscribe whenever you like.
What will you do with my email address?
Only email you about Nudgj. It's never sold and never shared for marketing. Our waiting list privacy notice explains exactly who helps us store it and how long we keep it.
